Severe vehicle collision on A59 close to Duisburg - One critically injured and three lightly hurt - Completely blocked traffic

The accident involved three vehicles: an Audi A6, a VW Transporter, and a Citroen Jumpy. The driver of the Audi, a 53-year-old man from Duisburg, was seriously injured and required hospitalization. Initial investigations suggest that the accident was due to a medical emergency.
The Audi, driven uncontrollably, lightly touched a Citroen Jumpy driven by a 59-year-old man from Dortmund. The impact was minimal, and the Citroen driver remained unharmed. However, the Citroen was so badly damaged it had to be towed away.
The VW Transporter, driven by a 69-year-old man from Duisburg, was the next vehicle involved in the accident. The Transporter had two female passengers aged 68 and 71. Fortunately, they, along with the driver, were lightly injured.
The main carriageway towards Dinslaken was fully closed during the investigation, but traffic was diverted via the parallel carriageway. The accident caused a significant delay for motorists, and the road was reopened after several hours.
The suspect involved in the accident, the 53-year-old man from Duisburg, was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. No further information about his condition has been released.
