Severe Road Incident on the Motorway: Motorcyclist Involved in a Wreck, Motorcycle Fully Engulfed in Flames, Helicopter Dispatched for Rescue Efforts in Lintorf
On Monday, May 20, 2024, at 5:30 PM, a serious incident occurred on the on-ramp to the A524 at Lintorf. The incident involved a 20-year-old motorcyclist riding a Yamaha.
The motorcyclist was unfortunately involved in a collision, causing him to fall off his bike. The collision resulted in the motorcycle skidding along the road and catching fire, causing damage to the road surface.
The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital via rescue helicopter, and the incident remains under investigation by the police. The driver of the VW involved in the accident has not been disclosed.
The incident has disrupted traffic flow on the A524 towards Krefeld, with the highway completely shut down due to the accident and lane closure. One lane remains closed due to the burned-out motorcycle, and repairs to the road surface are required before the closed lane can be reopened.
The 51-year-old driver of the VW was not injured in the accident. The accident also involved another individual, a 20-year-old motorcyclist and a 51-year-old VW driver, both from Duisburg.
The police are urging motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes, as the repairs to the road surface are expected to take some time to complete. The highway closure is in effect in the direction of Krefeld.
