The monsoon season in northern India is showing signs of intensification, bringing much-needed precipitation to many areas that experienced deficient rainfall earlier in the season. The cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh has been a key factor in this increased rainfall activity.

In Uttar Pradesh, several districts are under weather alerts, with 26 districts, including Agra, Mathura, Noida, Hardoi, Sitapur, Lucknow, and Unnao, issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall. Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Kaushambi are under a yellow alert for heavy rain with lightning. Residents in these areas are advised to stay indoors during thunderstorm periods, as these conditions pose risks of waterlogging in low-lying areas and traffic disruptions.

The weather forecast for Varanasi, Ghazipur, Ballia, and Mau in Uttar Pradesh indicates heavy rain with lightning, while Banda, Fatehpur, and Kanpur can expect heavy rain at isolated places. Farmers in these areas are encouraged to secure their crops against potential damage from heavy rain and strong winds.

In neighbouring Bihar, an orange warning for heavy rainfall has been issued, affecting multiple districts. Thunderstorm periods pose additional risks, with the potential for waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

Despite the challenges, the monsoon's final phase is proving beneficial for kharif crops, aiding in groundwater recharge. The Southwest monsoon is preparing for gradual withdrawal from northwest India, making these rainfall events even more crucial.

As always, it's important for residents to stay informed about weather conditions and take necessary precautions during this active monsoon season. Stay safe, and let's hope for continued relief from the rains.
