Heavy Rainfall and Active Monsoon Conditions Forecasted Across India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of India from August 7 to 12, 2025. Here's a breakdown of the expected weather conditions and rainfall patterns state-wise:

Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected throughout this period in Uttarakhand, with isolated extremely heavy rains, especially on August 13. Thunderstorms and lightning are likely in many areas. Himachal Pradesh will also experience isolated heavy rains, with the possibility of continued rainfall beyond August 12 due to the interaction of the southwest monsoon and western disturbances.

Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh: Scattered or isolated heavy rain episodes are forecast for these states. Punjab will see heavy rains on August 7 and 12, while Haryana will experience heavy rain on August 11 and 12, and West Uttar Pradesh will see heavy rain on August 8, 11, and 12. East Uttar Pradesh will experience heavy rain on August 8, 11, and 12, with accompanying thunderstorms mainly in the evenings.

Bihar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely during mid-August, with some extremely heavy rainfall expected on August 13.

Northeast India: Persistent heavy rainfall is expected over this week, with Arunachal Pradesh experiencing extremely heavy rainfall on some days, especially August 13.

Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe: Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted between August 7 and 9, driven by an active southwest monsoon combined with western disturbances.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana: These regions will experience isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, with extremely heavy rainfall anticipated in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana during August 13–17, and isolated very heavy rainfall over Rayalaseema on August 13.

Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Odisha, Chhattisgarh: Heavy to very heavy rains are forecast from August 13 onwards due to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.

Karnataka: Isolated heavy rainfall is noted early in the period, continuing mainly from August 13–17 in some districts.

Central India and Rajasthan: Rainfall activity is expected to be minimal during the period of August 7–12, 2025.

Temperature Forecasts: Many parts of Vidarbha are expected to experience markedly above normal maximum temperatures (>5.1°C above normal), while other regions like Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Northeastern and Central India had appreciably above normal temperatures.

Stay Safe: Farmers, commuters, and outdoor workers are urged to stay updated through official channels and take necessary precautions against sudden downpours or strong winds, as multiple regions are under yellow and orange alerts.
