Duchess Meghan lays bare her Postpartum Preeclampsia Ordeal on her Podcast Debut
- Severe postnatal complication
The first episode of Duchess Meghan's latest podcast, "Confessions of a Female Founder," is here, and it's been a heartfelt chat with Whitney Wolfe Herd, the ferocious founder of Bumble. What sets this conversation apart, though? Meghan disclosed her battle with postpartum preeclampsia, sharing the chilling experience that sent shockwaves through her life.
Meg's Postpartum Preeclampsia Struggle
In this nearly 50-minute heart-to-heart with Whitney, Meghan admitted to enduring postpartum preeclampsia, a condition that materializes after childbirth and necessitates immediate medical care. This demon hides within its symptoms high blood pressure, excessive protein in urine, severe headaches, and abdominal pain. Postpartum preeclampsia usually strikes within 48 hours of delivery.
"That shit was terrifying," Meghan recounted, further echoing, "Trying to juggle the circus while the public's oblivious to the chaos unfolding behind the curtains."
Wolfe Herd, a fellow preeclampsia survivor, barked, "It's a matter of life or death!" They, the two dynamic duchesses, went on to share their fortitude in the face of adversity.
Perseverance and Love: Balancing Motherhood and Empire
Whitney Wolfe Herd praised Meghan's remarkable composure after giving birth to Archie (5) in 2019. "Christ, how does this woman strut the world stage in heels, hours after pushing out a baby?" she mused.
Meghan, the 43-year-old warrior queen, discussed her delicate dance between empowering her maternity dreams and reigning as a beacon of entrepreneurship. Her three-year-old daughter, Lilibet, is quite the office sprite, Meghan divulged, frequently gracing her with interruptions mid-meeting. "She's like a spectral presence, even when the office door is locked!" she shared. "I wouldn't trade it for the world. I wouldn't miss those infinite moments."
A Walk Down Nostalgia Lane
For the grand debut of "Confessions of a Female Founder," Meghan unveiled three cherished photos from her childhood days on Instagram. Accompanying the photos, she quipped, "Entrepreneurship isn't exclusive to grown-ups. I still peddle treats! [wink]"
