Severe flooding hits southeast as emergency crews race to drain waterlogged areas

Heavy rainfall since May 19 has caused severe flooding across southeastern districts, forcing emergency teams into action. Authorities in Novokubansk District and Armavir are now working to drain waterlogged homes and roads as groundwater levels continue to rise. The downpours have left nearly 12,000 cubic meters of water trapped in flooded areas. In response, 27 specialists and 20 units of equipment were sent out over the past 24 hours to clear the water.

The effort has already removed 11,940 cubic meters, but the threat remains. A severe weather warning, including heavy rain and thunderstorms, has been extended through May 25, raising concerns about further flooding. Cleanup operations are ongoing as teams focus on draining affected properties and infrastructure. With more rain forecast, authorities are preparing for potential additional flooding in the coming days.
