Winter misfortunes graced Bavaria once more, as multiple incidents occurred on icy roads on a chilly Thursday night. Buttery-smooth roads turned into hazardous playgrounds in the districts of Upper Bavaria's Eichstädt and Swabia's Donau-Ries, as reported by the local police early Friday morning.
Drivers' Missteps
A 20-year-old driver took an unexpected detour from the road between Schelldorf and Stammham, unwittingly shepherding his vehicle over a crash barrier. Amazingly, the young man walked away unharmed. Shortly after, two incidents unfolded on the EI 11 district road like a scene from a movie. First, a 35-year-old lost control of their vehicle due to going too fast on the right, and a 53-year-old followed suit in the same location just a flicker later. In the ensuing commotion, the second car collided with the 35-year-old's vehicle, which had luckily halted by a ditch. Luckily, no injuries were reported, and the police estimated around €16,000 in damage.
In Donau-Ries, a risk-taker managed to damage a pair of cars, both victims of ill-advised speed in distinct spots. The 35-year-old mishandled their car on a bend in the forest near Fünfstetten, careening into a crash barrier. Meanwhile, in Kaisheim, a 23-year-old careened out of control, skidding into a crash barrier as well. The mishaps resulted in roughly €17,000 worth of damage.

Swabia's Donau-Ries County's chilly winter weather claimed two more carcasses due to excess speed. Traffic officials in Bavaria's Munich area advised caution as they braced for icy road conditions. Despite these admonitions, a 40-year-old driver from Bavaria's Trafficking County couldn't keep their composure, and a minor accident unfolded. Swabia's police attributed the increase in accidents to icy roads in areas near the Bavaria-Allgäu border, urging the populace to drive responsibly.
