Seventy-fifth Anniversary Celebration Hosted by the Public Service Commission

The Public Service Commission (PSC) of Nepal, the constitutional body responsible for recruiting civil servants, celebrated its 75th anniversary, or Diamond Jubilee, with a series of commemorative events in Kamalpokhari.

The celebration, held on Asar 1, 2082 BS, was marked by the unveiling of a Diamond Jubilee copper plaque and the lighting of a traditional oil lamp. The Right Honourable President Ram Chandra Paudel and the Honourable Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli were the chief and special guests, respectively.

During the event, several individuals were honoured for their significant contributions to the Commission. Mr. Prahlad Satyal, Computer Operator at the Central Office, was recognised for his contributions to the Commission's IT services. Former Chief Psychologist Mr. Jaya Pandey was also honoured for his significant contribution to advancing the merit system in PSC.

In addition, staff recognised for outstanding performance in fiscal year 2081/82 included Section Officer Rishikesh Chamlagain (Central Office), Section Officer Laxmi Prasad Parajuli (Kathmandu Office), and Kharidar Chitrakumar Suwal (Butwal Office).

A series of week-long programs were conducted in the lead-up to the Diamond Jubilee, including an Eye Camp held on Jestha 27, in cooperation with Tilganga Eye Hospital, where 160 individuals from PSC and associated offices underwent eye examinations. A blood donation drive was also held on Jestha 28, in collaboration with Nepal Red Cross Society, where 28 individuals donated blood.

The event was attended by the heads of constitutional bodies, former PSC chairpersons and officials, the chief and secretaries of the Government of Nepal, the Chief of Army Staff, heads of security agencies, former PSC secretaries and staff, and media personnel.

The Inter-Constitutional Quiz Competition was held on Jestha 29 and 30 at the PSC Central Office, with the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission emerging as the winner. The Election Commission came in second place, and the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority came in third.

To mark the 75th anniversary, the PSC declared Asar 1, 2082 BS to the end of Jestha 2083 BS as the "Diamond Jubilee Year," with year-round activities planned. A school-level quiz competition was conducted in 13 Commission offices involving five secondary schools from each respective municipality.

In his address, the President praised the Commission for maintaining its core values of merit, impartiality, and integrity for over 74 years. Mr. Ramhari Khatiwada, Chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives, was the distinguished guest.

The PSC's Diamond Jubilee celebrations underscored the Commission's commitment to its core values and its significant role in Nepal's public administration and governance. The events served as a testament to the Commission's dedication to maintaining its high standards and its continuous efforts to improve Nepal's civil service.
