Tensions Ramp Up: Vietnamese Citizens in Iran Evacuated Amid Conflict

Caught in the midst of the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, 18 Vietnamese citizens have been safely evacuated to a third country, reports our Ambassador to Iran, Nguyễn Lương Ngọc.

Current Situation

As of mid to late June 2025, there are approximately 38 Vietnamese nationals in Iran, belonging to the Vietnamese community, which consists of embassy staff, long-term residents, and short-term visitors. A staggering 18 have already made their way out of Iran, while about 19 still remain, encompassing embassy personnel and other Vietnamese citizens reported to be in good health and maintaining regular contact with the embassy.

Safety Measures

In response to the escalating tensions, the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran, overseen by Ambassador Nguyen Luong Ngoc, has been actively urging all Vietnamese nationals to practice caution, avoid crowded places, and adhere to local safety regulations. Citizens are also strongly encouraged to keep the embassy informed of their whereabouts and any potential concerns through official hotlines, available at +98 933 965 8252 or +98 991 205 7570.

Evacuation Efforts

In the event of an emergency, the Vietnamese Embassy has established a readiness to protect and evacuate remaining Vietnamese citizens as the situation unfolds. Evacuation plans have been put on hold for now but will be activated if necessary. It is also noted that similar protective and evacuation efforts are in progress for Vietnamese citizens in Israel, home to over 700 nationals, although the focus remains on the smaller number of residents in Iran at the moment.

So, even though tensions persist between Israel and Iran, the Vietnamese Embassy remains prepared and committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens in Iran. Let's hope the situation improves, and life can return to normal for these individuals.
