Seven individuals sufferharm in Herson region due to an attack
Fires Extinguished in Kherson Region, Yet Civilian Injuries and Damage Persist
Recent days have seen a series of incidents in the Russian-controlled part of the Kherson region, Ukraine, resulting in civilian injuries and property damage. According to the region's governor, Vladimir Saldo, these incidents are primarily due to Russian shelling and drone strikes.
On August 24, at least three civilians lost their lives, and multiple others were injured in attacks across eastern Ukraine, including Kherson. In Kherson specifically, three individuals sustained injuries, including an elderly man from Antonivka and two city residents.
On August 27, another artillery strike in Kherson resulted in the death of an 81-year-old woman and the injury of a 53-year-old woman. Over the course of the day, 11 more civilians were injured in various strikes that damaged residential buildings and private property.
The impact of these attacks has been widespread, with multi-story buildings, private houses, and vehicles destroyed in several districts. Fires broke out at an energy sector enterprise, damaging its administrative building and equipment. Power outages affected residential and commercial consumers, though electricity has since been restored.
In addition, a drone siege threatens to isolate Kherson city by disrupting main road connections, potentially trapping around 60,000 civilians due to Russian drone attacks on civilian vehicles and roads.
Eight grassland fires and three forest fires were recorded in the territories of Alekinsky, Hornostaevsky, Kakhovsky, Golopristansky, and Novokakhovsky districts. Fortunately, these fires did not cause significant damage to infrastructure, other than the land area burned.
In the towns of Alshanks, Velikiye Kopani, and Hornostaevka, civilians have been injured. In Alshanks, a woman and three men sustained injuries and mine-explosive trauma. In Velikiye Kopani, two men were injured, one of whom was behind the wheel of a car during the shelling and is hospitalized in critical condition. In Hornostaevka, a civilian was injured when an FPV drone attacked a light vehicle. The injured individuals from Alshanks have been hospitalized at the Alshanks Central District Hospital.
It is important to note that the exact cause of the fires is not specified in the report. Furthermore, the report does not provide any updates on the current situation or potential future risks of fires in the area.
These ongoing attacks in the Russian-controlled parts of Kherson region continue to cause civilian casualties, widespread property damage, disruptions to critical infrastructure, and pose risks of encirclement for local residents.
