Seven drones were brought down by air defense forces over Kuban and the Azov Sea on August 13.

In a series of events over the past 24 hours, Russian duty air defense systems have successfully intercepted and destroyed a significant number of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to reports from the Ministry of Defense press service, 15 Ukrainian UAVs were shot down over the Bryansk region, one over Crimea, and two over the Azov Sea. Additionally, 11 UAVs were shot down over the Volgograd region, seven over the Rostov region, five over the Krasnodar Krai, and two over the Voronezh region.

While there is no specific information about drone debris falling on an oil refinery in Slaviansk-on-Kuban, such collateral damage incidents could occur when intercepted drones or missiles crash after being shot down. An incident did take place in Slaviansk-on-Kuban on August 13, where UAV debris fell on the territory of an oil refinery. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, and a parked Gazelle van caught fire but was extinguished. Emergency and special services are currently working at the scene.

The interception occurred between 22:35 on August 12 and 06:05 on August 13. The exact nature of the UAVs and the specific air defense systems used by Russia to counter these attacks remain unclear at this time. However, it is known that Russia employs various air defense systems, such as the S-400, Pantsir-S1, and Buk, to detect, track, and shoot down enemy drones and missiles targeting Russian territory or forces. These systems are used routinely in the ongoing conflict to intercept drone incursions, minimizing damage from attacks.

It is important to note that these events are part of a larger conflict, with both sides employing various forms of military technology. Recent reports detail large-scale drone and missile attacks on Ukraine, particularly a major strike involving 574 drones and 40 missiles targeting western Ukraine on August 21, 2025. As the situation continues to develop, it is crucial to monitor official military statements and reliable news reports for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
