Seth Rogen initially declined to give Sal Saperstein a nod during the Emmys, but Apple later did so without Rogen's initial consent.
Apple TV+'s "The Studio" Sweeps the 2025 Emmy Awards
The 2025 Emmy Awards took place with a grand celebration of television's finest, and one standout winner was Apple TV+'s original series, The Studio. The comedy took home several prestigious awards, making it the most awarded comedy of the night.
The Studio, a behind-the-scenes satire of the television industry, stars Seth Rogen as Sal Saperstein, the head of Continental Studios. The show's ensemble cast includes notable names like Adam Scott, Ike Barinholtz, and a host of stars who played themselves, including Aaron Sorkin, Zoe Kravitz, Jean Smart, Ramy Youssef, and Quinta Brunson, all of whom thanked Saperstein in the series.
Despite Rogen's four appearances during the Emmys, he did not thank Saperstein in the prime-time ceremony. When asked about this, Rogen explained that he had a reason but would have liked to have given a shout-out to his character. Barinholtz, who portrays the vice president of Continental Studios, shared similar sentiments, expressing disappointment over the lack of a call-out for Saperstein.
However, Apple TV+ made sure to thank Saperstein in a fun and creative way, implying that they did so instead of Rogen. Additionally, a billboard was put up by Apple TV+ to further express their gratitude to the character.
The Studio won numerous awards at the Emmys, including Outstanding Directing, Writing, Lead Actor, and Comedy Series. The show also took home awards in various technical categories, such as Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, Costumes, Cinematography, Production Design, Casting, Picture Editing, Guest Actor, and Music Supervision.
Moreover, The Studio was not the only Apple TV+ production to shine at the Emmys. Series like Severance and Slow Horses also garnered multiple wins, adding to Apple TV+'s impressive tally.
New subscribers can enjoy The Studio and Apple TV+'s other offerings with a 7-day free trial, after which plans start at $9.99 per month (prices may vary globally). With such an extensive library of award-winning content, it's easy to see why Apple TV+ is quickly becoming a go-to destination for television lovers everywhere.
