In the world of Formula One, speculation about the future of top drivers is always a hot topic. One such driver is Max Verstappen, currently with Red Bull, and his potential move could have significant implications for other teams, particularly Mercedes.

Recent reports suggest that the dismissal of Christian Horner from Red Bull could be a factor in Verstappen's future team decisions. The future of Red Bull's engine partner is also a concern, as it could affect Verstappen's decision about his team for 2026 and beyond.

If Red Bull's performance in 2026 does not meet expectations, Verstappen might consider leaving, which could reignite the flirtation with Mercedes. However, it's important to note that there is currently no public information about Verstappen's intentions or any negotiations between him and Mercedes.

Meanwhile, Mercedes is dealing with its own challenges. The team, which includes drivers George Russell and rookie Kimi Antonelli, has been experiencing a slump, with performances not meeting their standards. Russell, who is currently behind championship leader Oscar Piastri, is reportedly interested in a long-term contract, especially if Mercedes can fight for the title after the major rule overhaul next year.

Antonelli, on the other hand, has struggled recently, failing to score points in the last three races. After his early exit in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix last week, Antonelli was in tears. However, Lewis Hamilton, a Ferrari star and former Mercedes driver, offered comfort to Antonelli during a brief visit to the motorhome.

In an effort to address these issues, Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes, has called for an emergency meeting before the Hungarian Grand Prix. Contrary to some reports, Wolff has denied that this meeting was an emergency or crisis meeting. Instead, he explained that the team conducts regular, planned meetings with the drivers every few months to review car performance and improvements, and the recent meeting with Russell and Antonelli was one of these routine assessments.

As for the contracts of Russell and Antonelli, there is no specific or updated information available at this time. The duration of the new contracts for the duo is uncertain.

In a potential scenario where Verstappen leaves Red Bull, Mercedes might offer him a cockpit for 2027. This would add another layer of intrigue to the already exciting world of Formula One.

In the constructors' championship, McLaren, powered by Mercedes engines, is ahead by 296 points after 13 world championship races. This strong performance could influence the negotiations between Toto Wolff and his drivers, as the team seeks to maintain its competitive edge.

The future of Red Bull, meanwhile, remains uncertain due to the departure of engine partner Honda and the recent controversies surrounding the dismissal of long-time team principal Christian Horner. This uncertainty could impact the future contract negotiations for Russell and Antonelli, should Verstappen decide to leave Red Bull.

As the season progresses, these developments will surely continue to shape the landscape of Formula One. Stay tuned for more updates.
