The Lega Serie A, governing body of Italy's top professional football league, has announced a unique calendar for the 2021/2022 Serie A season. This season will see an asymmetric schedule, a departure from the traditional mirror format.
The season is set to commence on August 22 and run until May 22, 2022. Notably, Serie A has scheduled five midweek matches on September 22, October 27, December 1, December 22, and January 6. This is a change from the usual weekend fixtures.
Five international breaks are also planned throughout the season, falling on September 5, October 10, November 14, January 30, and March 27. These breaks will allow for national team commitments.
