Sequel of 'Another Simple Favor' uncovers surprising turn for Blake Lively's character
Hey there! Let's dish about Blake Lively's latest film venture, "Another Simple Favor," where she explored a mind-blowing twist in her role.
This pieces-of-eight actress, fresh off the controversial legal tussles with Justin Baldoni, spilled the beans about the shocking surprise in the movie's sequel during the SXSW Film & TV Festival in March.
While she confidently declared that she had her game face on for this flick, the director sprung a curveball right before the cameras started rolling! "I swear, I'm cool as a cucumber – and then he drops a bomb of an idea on me. Suffice to say, it jacked up the stakes. It was as if my soul got a good old-fashioned twist of the ickey," Lively shared with us.
At 37, our girl couldn't help but gush over her character in the sequel -- she calls it the juiciest role she's ever nabbed in Tinseltown.
Meanwhile, Paul Feig, who steered this thrill-comedy vehicle, also dropped by the event. He told us that there were moments in the development of the movie where he seriously considered calling the whole thing off due to some tricky knots in the script. The good news is, they held steady, scripts and all, to give us this absolute whopper of a movie!
In the 2018 original, "A Simple Favor," Lively rocked double duty as Emily Nelson and her estranged sis, Faith. The clan included another triplet, Charity, who was thought to have kicked the bucket at birth.
The sequel kicks off with Emily, now free from the clink, inviting her buddy, Stephanie, to serve as her maid of honor at her Italian wedding. But, hold on to your seats, because things take a dark turn when Emily's fiancé, Dante, turns out to be a knucklehead from the Italian mob, and Aunt Linda finds herself in a tangled web of lies.
Things reach a boiling point when Charity is unveiled as the real deal, very much alive and in cahoots with Aunt Linda. Emily faces off with her sister's schemes, which involve a power move in the Versano crime family and a plot to whack Emily for good.
During a climactic showdown, Emily's son, Nicky, uses his drone to throw Aunt Linda off her game, allowing Charity to snuff Linda out once and for all by pushing her off a cliff. In a dramatic turn of events, Emily pleads with Charity to assume her identity, setting the stage for future chaos.
Catch Feig's spectacle in theaters on March 7, dear friends. But remember, it ain't your average flick, it's "Another Simple Favor!"
