Gütersloh Municipal Elections 2025: Key Information

The city of Gütersloh is gearing up for the municipal elections scheduled for September 14, 2025. Here's a rundown of essential details to help you prepare for the voting process.

Mail-In Voting

The online application for mail-in voting materials was temporarily unavailable on Monday afternoon, but residents are encouraged to pay close attention to their voting notices and apply for mail-in voting materials well in advance if necessary. If you suddenly fall ill on election day, you can have a proxy pick up mail-in voting materials for you before 3 pm that day, but a written power of attorney is required.

Mail-in ballots must be received at City Hall by Sunday, September 14, at 4 pm. The safest way to submit your mail-in ballot is by using the mailbox to the left of the main entrance of City Hall. Mail-in voting materials can still be applied for and filled out in person at City Hall until September 12, 2025, at 3 pm. To arrange for this, you must first contact the city administration by phone at 05241 / 82-39 39.

Voting Districts and Eligibility

All voting districts in Gütersloh have been redistricted for the municipal elections. Around 80,000 eligible voters in Gütersloh will participate in the elections, with approximately 31,800 people eligible to vote for the Integration Council.

Voters are advised to check their voting notices before election day to ensure they go to the correct polling station. If you have not received your mail-in voting materials, you can pick up replacements at City Hall during opening hours and on Saturday, September 13, from 9 am to 12 pm.

Polling Stations and Voter Turnout

Polling stations in Gütersloh will be open from 8 am to 6 pm on election day. The mayor and administration are hopeful for a high voter turnout, with Mayor Matthias Trepper saying, "Every vote counts - exercise your voting rights."

Mayoral Elections

There is no mayoral election taking place in Gütersloh in 2025. Matthias Trepper (SPD) was only elected the year before and has no successor named at this time.

The city of Gütersloh encourages all eligible voters to participate in the municipal elections. Remember to bring your ID and voting notice to the polling station. For more information, contact the city administration.
