Senators welcome back Lars Eller and call up three prospects after Olympics
The Ottawa Senators welcomed back Lars Eller from Olympic duty while calling up three prospects from Belleville. To maintain roster numbers while waiting for other Olympians, Ottawa recalled Stephen Halliday, Tyler Boucher, and Carter Yakemchuk. The trio took part in Monday's session, with Halliday likely to stay for the team's next matches. The practice also served as a development opportunity for Boucher and Yakemchuk, who gained experience alongside the main squad.
Denmark, where Eller played, finished seventh in the 2022 Beijing Olympics. For the 2026 Games, the country has already nominated Eller, Mads Sogaard, and one other Senators player to its roster.
The recalled players will help fill gaps until the full Olympic contingent returns. Halliday's chances of featuring in upcoming games remain strong, while Boucher and Yakemchuk continue their development. Meanwhile, Eller's Olympic stint adds to his international experience before rejoining the NHL lineup.
