The question of privatization isn't up for debate, she insists. "That story about privatization is just fake news. It's not a part of this Cultural Dialogue at all." Instead, it's about how to adapt to the current crisis and find ways for cultural organizations to flourish while staying within their budgets.
No Cutting Corners
According to Wedl-Wilson, the focus is on working smarter, not harder. "It's not about wage cuts or job losses, but finding ways to work together in a network, whether loosely as before or tightly joined." The idea of establishing foundations, such as the Opera Foundation, is on the table as a long-term option.
Wedl-Wilson will assume her role as Culture Senator on May 22 following the resignation of Joe Chialo.
