Senator relinquishes Tesla: "No longer desires a vehicle from a characterless individual"
Following a spat with tech billionaire Elon Musk, US Senator Scott Kelly, a Democratic veteran, reveals he's parting ways with his Tesla. Kelly, who once admired the automobile for its speed as fast as a "rocket-powered ship," unexpectedly slams the CEO in a video.
The 61-year-old senator explains, "This'll be my last drive in this vehicle." Striking a resolute tone, he dismisses Musk, labeling him a "jerk." He clarifies, "I don't want a car manufactured by a jerk."
The rift began when Musk, a Trump supporter and recent visitor to Ukraine, bashed Kelly, calling him a "traitor" in response to a post detailing Kelly's experiences in Kyiv[1].
Kelly: Musk and Trump Cause USA Harm
Kelly shares his thoughts on the Ukraine crisis, stating, "I just returned from Ukraine. The people there shouldn’t be abandoned." He emphasizes, "Peace is desirable, but any settlement must preserve Ukraine's security, not bolster Putin."
Kelly criticizes both Musk and Trump for their alleged actions harming the USA. "Trump is weakening Ukraine," he says, deeming Musk a "non-serious person."
Kelly voices his dismay about the car, "Every time I sit in this vehicle in the last two months, it reminds me of the destruction Musk and Trump are wreaking on our nation." He refers to social safety net dismantling and healthcare cuts for the poor and elderly [1].
"One bad event follows another," Kelly bemoans, gesturing toward his black Tesla. "It's difficult for me, as a veteran, to endure this vehicle, knowing he [Musk] terminates veterans," he adds[2].
