Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old individual, has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder following the shooting of Kirk, an incident that occurred during an outdoor event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2022. The authorities have also accused Robinson of felony discharge of a firearm causing serious body injury, obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering, and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child. Prosecutors have announced their intention to seek the death penalty for Robinson.

In a move to honour the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk, Florida Senator Rick Scott led the passage of a resolution in the Senate, which has now been unanimously passed, declaring October 14, 2025, as the National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk. This day also happens to be Kirk's birthday. More than 20 senators supported this resolution, recognising Kirk for his significant contributions to civic education and public service.

The approved resolution encourages educational institutions, civic organisations, and citizens across the United States to observe the National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk. This day is intended to remember and celebrate Kirk's life, his dedication to civic education, and his service to the public.

The memorial service for Charlie Kirk is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Glendale, Arizona. The service is expected to be attended by tens of thousands of supporters, including former US President Donald Trump, his vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance, Kirk's widow Erika, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and other prominent conservative figures. The stadium where the service will be held has over 63,000 seats.

In addition to the memorial service and the National Day of Remembrance, the House of Representatives has also announced its intention to pass a resolution honoring the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk.

Charlie Kirk was not just a public figure, but also a devout husband, father, and friend. His life and work continue to inspire many, and the National Day of Remembrance is a fitting tribute to his memory and legacy.
