News Article: Invalid Signatures Derail Petition Against Senators

A petition seeking the removal of 136 senators, led by Senator Premsak Piayura and 20 other senators, has hit a roadblock due to the discovery of forged signatures. The petition, filed on August 6, 2025, was intended to be submitted to the Constitutional Court, but the invalid signatures have rendered it unsubmittable.

The Senate President has informed Senator Premsak Piayura that the petition cannot be submitted due to insufficient signatures. According to Article 82 of the Constitution, at least one-tenth of the total number of senators, or 20 members, must sign a petition for it to be valid. However, only 18 senators have signed the petition in question, falling short of the required number.

Colonel Thanotsakorn Burakhom, one of the senators involved in the petition, has requested to withdraw her name due to a misunderstanding regarding the purpose of her participation. Senator Thanatchaphong Wongmulalee and Senator Decha Nutalai have also stated that they did not sign the petition against the Bhumjaithai Party senators.

The Senate Secretariat issued a statement on Friday, August 7, 2025, regarding the issue. The statement did not disclose the details of the investigation into the forged signatures, but it did confirm that no further action can be taken on the petition due to its invalid signatures.

Thaksin, a prominent political figure, has hinted that senators seeking the removal of another senator may be attempting to derail the ongoing Senate election probe. The EC has announced an investigation into alleged Senate election fraud, with 229 individuals facing charges.

This event is not connected to the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, which occurred earlier in 2025, nor is it related to the rules of the Philippine Senate or other unrelated electoral and Supreme Court rulings.

The controversy surrounding the petition has raised questions about the integrity of the political process in Thailand. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen whether the senators involved will face any consequences for their actions.

The controversy surrounding the invalid petition against the senators has stirred discussions in the realm of politics and policy-and-legislation, as questions about the integrity of the political process in Thailand are being raised. This situation may also have implications for general news, as the investigation continues to unfold and potentially affect the ongoing Senate election probe.
