Semifinals of BIIF softball: Balance between Lady Warriors and 'Riders established

In a thrilling turn of events, the Waiakea softball team fought back from elimination in the BIIF Division I softball playoffs. Facing Kealakehe in Game 3, the Lady Warriors found themselves trailing 11-8 by the end of the 5.5th inning. But oh boy, did they turn things around!

A massive rally ensued in the bottom of the 6th inning, with Waiakea scoring an impressive 10 runs. This spectacular comeback secured their position in the championship game, scheduled for April 30, 2025. Regrettably, the specifics of the final score have yet to be reported in detail—wonder what the exact scoreboard looked like at the end of that nail-biting match![1][2] To find out the final tally, one would require the game's box score or official records.

In Game 2, the home team started off strong, with Lexi Santiago tripling to left field. Tehani Chinen and Kaelyn Sewake followed suit by doubling to left, both scoring runs. Sewake tagged another single in the second inning, driving in two more runs. Keani Kaneshiro added an RBI groundout in the third, and the team capped off the game with seven more runs in the subsequent innings, triggering the run rule after six innings.

Chinen shone as the top hitter for the Lady Warriors with three hits, while Santiago and Sewake each recorded two. Kaneshiro, Jayda Kaimi, and Tinei Soi chipped in one hit each.

Kaitlyn Miura claimed the win on the mound, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out six. Miura leads Waiakea in innings pitched (24.0), wins (three), strikeouts (40), and has a respectable 2.63 ERA.

Kealakehe had a strong showing, too. Shortstop Rhianna Joaquin claimed two hits as their leadoff batter, coming in after Freeda Tosie and Lai Micheli-Kaimola managed one hit each. Emalia Emmsley, who secured the Game 1 win, continued to dominate as their team's ace. Despite allowing 10 hits and 15 runs while striking out five during Game 3, she impressively leads Kealakehe in innings pitched (45.0), wins (four), strikeouts (44), and sports a 3.58 ERA.
