Selangor’s Dark Fibre Network Kicks Off with Cyberjaya’s 41km Underground Line
The Selangor state government has launched the Fiberisation-Cyberjaya Project, a major step in building a high-speed digital network. A 41.1-kilometre underground fibre optic line will be laid in Cyberjaya as the first phase of the Selangor Dark Fibre Network. This initiative aims to strengthen the state’s digital economy by improving infrastructure for data centres, smart manufacturing, and high-value investments.
The project is led by SmartSel Sdn Bhd, a state-owned digital infrastructure company, working alongside OCK Group Berhad. SmartSel will oversee the full implementation, ensuring the network meets its targets. The initial Cyberjaya route is just the beginning, with plans to expand the fibre network to Shah Alam next, covering an additional 178 kilometres.
Once complete, the Selangor Dark Fibre Network will provide an open, neutral, and high-speed fibre optic system. The infrastructure is designed to attract investment in data-driven industries and support long-term digital growth. The state government expects the network to boost revenue while keeping disruptions minimal during construction.
