Sega unveils initial sneak peek of Sonic's joint project with DC, an unexpected team-up we cannot ignore
In a groundbreaking collaboration, the worlds of DC Comics and Sonic the Hedgehog are set to unite in a five-issue comic series, as announced at Sega's Sonic Central livestream event in September 2024.
The comic book series, titled DC x Sonic the Hedgehog, will see Sonic and his friends, including Knuckles and Tails, team up with Justice League members such as Superman, Cyborg, and Green Lantern (John Stewart) to face the villain Darkseid, who invades Sonic's world from Apokolips.
As the story unfolds, fans can expect to see Sonic and Flash racing, potentially answering the age-old question of who is faster. Meanwhile, Amy Rose's iconic flying Pink Cabriolet from Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will make a cameo in a scene with Wonder Woman.
The first issue, DC x Sonic the Hedgehog #1, will feature covers by Pablo M. Collar and Ethan Young. The art in the comics promises an exciting visual journey, with Sonic and Flash racing, Sonic's design evolution, and the terrifying early design that never saw the light of day.
In addition to the comics, a line of merchandise, including toys and collectibles, is set to follow, with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products taking the lead. The toys will feature Shadow the Hedgehog as Batman, Knuckles as Superman, Amy Rose as Wonder Woman, Silver the Hedgehog as Green Lantern, Tails as Cyborg, and Sonic as The Flash.
The first apparel for the DC x Sonic collaboration is now available at Target.com, featuring Shadow the Hedgehog as Batman on t-shirts and hoodies.
In a twist of events, Sonic will receive help from the Justice League to combat the forces of Apokolips. This unlikely crossover is sure to delight fans of both franchises and create a new generation of fans who will enjoy the fast-paced action and engaging storyline.
A dedicated fan has also created an Unreal Engine Sonic Adventures remake, offering additional Sonic fun for those who can't wait for the comic series to unfold. The remake promises to bring a fresh take on the classic game, with improved graphics and gameplay.
As the collaboration between DC and Sonic the Hedgehog continues to evolve, fans can look forward to more exciting announcements and merchandise in the future. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting crossover!
