Threat to Internal Security Arises from Both Left and Right, According to Herrmann - Security threats loom from both the left and the right, as per Herrmann's statement.

In a recent statement, Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann highlighted three main threats to internal security in the region: right-wing extremism, Islamist terrorism, and espionage activities by foreign powers.

Right-wing extremism remains a significant focus for Bavarian internal security authorities, consistent with broader German state concerns. The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East serves as an "extreme radicalization factor," according to Herrmann.

Islamist terrorism also continues to be a critical threat, as illustrated indirectly by references to asylum-seekers involved in violent incidents and the general vigilance of the security apparatus.

Foreign powers and espionage pose increasing challenges, especially through technological means such as drone surveillance and spying. Since the Ukraine war started, there has been a noted rise in suspected spy drone sightings over military airfields and critical infrastructure in Bavaria, such as Manching and Neuburg bases.

Herrmann, jointly with Minister President Markus Söder, has also credited stricter migration policies and tighter border controls as measures helping to reduce some security risks.

The AfD continues to be monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Joachim Herrmann accuses the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party of agitation against people with a migration background or Muslim faith, and against democratic institutions. A ban procedure and exclusion from party funding are being examined at the federal level for the AfD.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to win young people over to the right-wing scene through organizations like the National-Revolutionary Youth and Active Clubs. Left-wing extremists try to prevent any positioning that does not correspond to their view, including measures against illegal migration.

Islamists continue to target children and young people in Bavaria, with women playing a greater role as influencers for recruitment. The observation of the AfD by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution will continue.

In response to these threats, Bavaria is actively deploying enhanced measures in border control, police readiness, and military-civil coordination to address these threats comprehensively.
