Stand Up, Iran! The Call for Change from Reza Pahlavi, Son of the Shah
Security figure Shah-Sohn advocates for a break from the Iranian regime by the country's security forces.
In the wake of recent tensions between Iran and Israel, Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran's deposed monarch, has made a passionate plea for Iran's military and security forces to cast off the current Islamic Republic and join the people in their quest for change.
Pahlavi, a US-based opposition figure, addressed his fellow countrymen after the Israeli strikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites, stating, "Join the people, keep the oath of every honorable soldier. Break with the regime."
The former crown prince aims not for the restoration of the monarchy but to support the secular democracy movement in his homeland using his name.
Pahlavi's message underscores a demand for mass protests and a nationwide strike, framing the current conflict as a struggle between the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic rather than a confrontation between different countries. This call echoes ongoing protests within Iran, driven by economic hardships, political repression, and international isolation.
Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated following Israel's strikes on several Iranian sites, allegedly facilitated by Mossad operatives and commando units. Iran responded with a drone attack, all of which were intercepted by Israeli defenses.
Pahlavi sees the current regime as "corrupt, desperate, and afraid" and believes it is time for the people to unite for a better future. His remarks have been directed at Iran's military and security forces, encouraging them to fulfil their duty to the nation rather than the regime.
Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, has accused Pahlavi of orchestrating a war with Israel and labeled the ruling regime in Tehran as "weak and divided." He appealed to the international community to shun the Iranian regime, viewing it as a dying, terrorist regime that shouldn't be supported.
