Secretary of Trump dismisses workers following sandwich-throwing incident at border authorities

Headline: Fired DOJ Employee Charged with Assault on Federal Officer in Washington D.C.

In the heart of Washington D.C., a 37-year-old Department of Justice (DOJ) employee, Sean Charles Dunn, found himself in hot water after an incident that took place on 14th Street NW. The incident, which was caught on video and gained significant traction online, unfolded late on a Sunday night before August 14, 2025.

Dunn, who was employed in the international affairs division within the criminal justice sector, allegedly shouted profanities at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, calling them "fascists," before throwing a Subway sandwich at one of the agents. The border patrol agent involved in the incident was wearing a bulletproof vest, fortunately avoiding any physical harm.

Following the incident, Dunn was apprehended near the scene of the crime and subsequently fired from his DOJ position. The assault charge includes resisting or impeding a federal law enforcement officer. He is now under investigation for the felony assault and faces potential legal consequences.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Dunn’s firing and described his behavior as disrespectful toward government and law enforcement. She cited the incident as an example of opposition from what she called the "Deep State" within the DOJ. Attorney General Bondi emphasized her support for law enforcement and stated that Dunn would not be allowed to continue working in the administration while showing such disrespect.

The deployment of National Guard and federal agents in Washington is not met with enthusiasm by all citizens. Protests against Trump's order to take over local police with his administration and deploy additional federal agents are ongoing in Washington D.C. The heightened tensions come amid President Trump's justification for the measures, citing alleged widespread crime in the capital.

Jeanine Pirro, head of the U.S. Attorney’s office in D.C., said they would back police fully and charged Dunn with a felony assault. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen what the outcome will be for Sean Dunn.
