In the recently commissioned rectifier substation, these electric bus batteries from eCitaro buses are breathing new life: connected side-by-side, constructing the mighty energy storage unit.

Unveiling the Powerhouse

Currently, this Döhren respite is a melting pot for eCitaro bus batteries. Their combined storage capacity is a whopping 500 kWh, providing powerhouse support to light rail vehicles and electric buses. Although these batteries may lack the juice for the open road, they're potent enough to store electricity for up to ten years! Get ready to tune into the green town of Hanover!

Since 2020, Üstra has rolled out 49 eco-friendly eCitaro buses. By 2026, these trusty batteries are all set to get a dedicated afterlife, integrated seamlessly into the power storage solution. According to Üstra's estimations, this groundbreaking step will enable the company to autonomously meet its entire power requirements, courtesy of the company-owned batteries!
