Season finale in Wersten marked by athletic events in Düsseldorf
The Glühwein hut Wersten, a beloved gathering spot for Werstener residents, recently closed its doors for the season after a successful run since November 20, 2024. Located at the green space between Burscheider Street, Werstener Field, and Cologne Road, the hut has been a hub of winter activities.
One of the highlights of the season was the traditional Christmas tree throwing event, which attracted around 150 attendees. Participants were invited to bring their decorated natural trees and take part in the festivities. The event also served as a world championship in Weidenthal, Bad Dürkheim.
Before the tree-throwing competition began, a little eggnog was served to participants to ensure their aim. The band Fuchs&Fertig provided musical entertainment, having already gained many fans at the Advent singing.
The Glühwein hut's goal was to collect donations, and wine from the Ahr region was offered. Proceeds from the event were donated to help those affected by the 2021 flood disaster.
As the hut prepared for its final day, owner Dirk Rauchmann organised special Christmas traditions. The "everything must go" motto was applied to the drinks, ensuring that nothing was wasted.
The Kultur Bud Wersten initiative is starting a new project in Wersten, which includes Glühwein hikes. More details about the small winter running series, featuring Glühwein from the Ahr region, will be available soon. Registration for the three new Glühwein hike dates will soon be possible.
The band Fuchs&Fertig had already made a name for themselves at the Advent singing and provided musical entertainment at the Glühwein hut Wersten. A "competition tree" was also provided for the Christmas tree throwing event, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festivities.
The last opportunity for gatherings at the Glühwein hut Wersten was on Saturday, 4.1. The organizer responsible for the future Glühwein hikes at Kultur Bud Wersten in Wersten has not been explicitly named in the provided information. Nonetheless, the community looks forward to the new project and the return of the Glühwein hut next winter.
