St. Francis High Faces Challenges as Quarterback Injuries Mount

In a season marred by injuries, St. Francis High's teams is facing a tough battle. The teams login, Shawn Sanders, broke his collarbone in the first game of the season, and third-string quarterback Ashton Gill has also suffered a wrist injury.

As a result, Coach Dean Herrington, known for his success in coaching quarterbacks, has been forced to make some unconventional moves. The teams has turned to linebacker and former freshman team quarterback Luke Danni to handle quarterback duties, while running back Elijah Wilson has taken on more responsibility to ease the pressure on the quarterbacks. Wilson carried the ball 30 and 31 times in the last two games.

Fourth-string quarterback Vito Schiada was pulled up from the freshman teams login, and fifth-string quarterback Brady Cofre, who is expected to start once recovered, injured his shoulder. Backup quarterback Alister Chan, a transfer from Pasadena Poly, is unavailable due to a sit-out period.

St. Francis High will have a bye week after the game against Loyola, providing a much-needed break for the injured players. The return of Shawn Sanders will mark the resumption of Angelus League play for the teams.

Despite the challenges, Coach Herrington remains optimistic. He has a history of coaching successful quarterbacks, including All-CIF players at Hart and Vernon Adams at Bishop Alemany. This season, however, has been particularly difficult due to the string of injuries.

The teams will continue to rely on Wilson and Danni as they navigate through the rest of the season, with Brady Cofre expected to return once recovered. The resilience and adaptability shown by the players and coach Herrington will be crucial in determining St. Francis High's success this season.
