Season 27 of Big Brother has had questionable strategies, but one contestant may have executed the most damaging maneuver so far.

Zach's Decision to Not Use Power Sparks Debate on Big Brother Season 27

Zach, a houseguest on Big Brother Season 27, is facing criticism for not using his $10,000 safety power during Week 5. This decision has left him up for eviction against Keanu, a well-known "comp beast" in the Big Brother house.

Zach won the special power during the premiere, which guaranteed him safety from eviction for one week. However, when he found himself on the nomination block, he chose to protect his ally Morgan instead of himself. This decision has sparked debate among fans and commentators.

By not using his power to remove himself from the block, Zach was vulnerable and ultimately evicted in Week 5. This choice is viewed as a critical miscalculation that ended his game prematurely.

Alliance Dynamics and Trust Risks

Zach revealed his power selectively to some allies (Morgan and Mickey) but kept others like Lauren in the dark, creating potential fractures and risk of his power being targeted. His loyalty to protecting Morgan over himself confused and alarmed other houseguests, who might view him as a threat needing to be eliminated sooner.

Strategic Criticism

Critics and some houseguests saw Zach’s choice as prioritizing loyalty and personal relationships over core game mechanics. This selflessness did not pay off because his allies ultimately did not keep him safe, and his failure to use the power when numbers were uncertain was heavily criticized as a strategic error.

Game Reputation

Zach’s decision sparked debate in the house and in the audience over whether protecting an ally at personal risk was admirable or imprudent gameplay. His passivity contrasted with the usual aggressive tactics needed to survive in Big Brother’s fluid political environment.

If Zach survives nomination this week, he may not be nominated the following week. However, if he is evicted, his decision not to use his power could be considered one of the worst game moves of all time.

The Big Brother episodes and live feeds are available on Paramount+, where viewers can also find plans offering an Essential plan, an ad-free plan, and a Premium plan that includes Showtime. Big Brother continues on CBS this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET.

It remains to be seen how Zach's strategic choices will impact his game moving forward. Not spending the money to save himself with the veto was reckless and could haunt Zach if he goes home this week. Zach has not won any competitions since the premiere of Big Brother Season 27, leaving his future in the game uncertain.
