Hamas and Samidoun Crackdown Across Federal States

German authorities have been taking a firm stance against extremism, as evident in the recent property searches across several federal states in connection with the ban on terrorist organization Hamas and the international network Samidoun. This was revealed by the Federal Ministry of the Interior on Thursday morning.

The ban on both organizations, announced in early November, underscores the authorities' commitment to tackling Hamas-related extremism and countering global extremist networks.

Delving deeper, the Interior Ministry in North Rhine-Westphalia has also banned the Palestine Solidarity Duisburg (PSD) group. Accused of spreading antisemitic narratives and expressing solidarity with "Palestinian resistance in all forms," the PSD group faced a ban on Thursday. Simultaneously, police conducted searches on four properties linked to the group in Duisburg [1].

Furthermore, earlier in 2024, Germany's federal government formally banned any activity by or in support of Hamas. This decision led to the dissolution of Samidoun, a group behind a celebration in Berlin honoring Hamas' attack on Israel. Despite the lack of explicit details, it is worth noting that the Ministry of Interior in North Rhine-Westphalia outlawed Samidoun just before the raids on its associated properties on May 16, 2024 [2].

This crackdown on Hamas and its supporters across various federal states showcases Germany's determination to curb extremist activities and protect its citizens' safety.
