Sean P. Diddy Combs continues to be held by law enforcement.

In a recent development, the judge in New York has denied Sean "Diddy" Combs' request for early release, following his conviction on two counts of transportation for prostitution under the Mann Act. The trial, which took place in July 2025, was closely watched around the world and made headlines in US media.

The trial centred around allegations of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. However, the jury found Combs not guilty on the more serious charges such as racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. The prosecution had accused Combs of sexually exploiting, threatening, and coercing women for years.

The background to these charges includes numerous civil lawsuits and allegations dating from 1990 to 2023. These contain accusations of rape, sexual assault, sexual battery, and drug-facilitated sexual assault from multiple individuals, including his former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, who alleged repeated rape, trafficking, and physical abuse over nearly ten years. Video evidence shown at trial highlighted violent and abusive behavior, such as Combs physically assaulting Cassie.

Combs, who is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York, now faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The sentence for him will be announced on October 3rd.

In a bid for early release, Combs' lawyers had filed a request last week, offering a bail package of $50 million for house arrest. However, the judge denied this request, citing that Combs still faces charges for which he has not been fully acquitted. The lawyers argued that Combs poses no flight risk and no danger to his surroundings.

This case represents a high-profile and complex series of accusations and legal proceedings centering on allegations of sexual misconduct and exploitation spanning many years. Several women testified in the multi-week trial about years of severe sexual and physical abuse. Despite the denial of his early release, Combs will continue to await his sentencing, scheduled for October 3rd.
