Sean P. Diddy Combs continues to be detained.

Sean "Diddy" Combs, the renowned American rapper and entrepreneur, is currently in federal custody in Lower Manhattan, New York, following his conviction on two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution in July 2025. The charges, in violation of the Mann Act, were part of a high-profile trial that garnered international attention.

The trial, which spanned several weeks, saw numerous women testify about years of severe sexual and physical abuse they allegedly suffered at the hands of Combs. Among the accusers is his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who claimed repeated rape, trafficking, and physical assault over about a decade.

The charges against Combs stem from accusations dating back to incidents between the 1990s and 2020s. Over 120 lawsuits have been filed, detailing patterns of abuse including drugging, intimidation, and coercion at parties hosted by Combs.

Despite the guilty verdict, Combs was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. The maximum sentence for the offenses he was convicted of is up to 10 years in prison.

Combs pleaded not guilty, arguing that the sex acts were consensual and part of a "swingers'" lifestyle. His defense also claims his conviction under the Mann Act is unprecedented and unconstitutional, seeking either acquittal or a new trial before sentencing.

As of August 2025, Combs remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York, awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for early October. His lawyers have filed a motion for his release, offering a bail package of $50 million to allow Combs to switch to house arrest. However, the judge in New York has previously denied a similar request, and the denial of Combs' request for early release was reported by US media.

The sentencing for Combs is scheduled for October 3. The rapper, now a convicted felon in the US, faces a maximum sentence of 20 years.
