In a surprising turn of events, Virginia Huynh, also known as "Gina," has written a letter to the judge, urging for the release of Sean "Diddy" Combs on bail ahead of his sentencing. The letter, submitted on August 3, 2025, comes after Combs was convicted by a jury last month on two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution, but acquitted on more serious charges such as racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking [1].

Huynh, who has known Combs for years both professionally and personally, acknowledged that their relationship was not always perfect. However, she stated that by the end of their relationship, Combs embodied an energy of love, patience, and gentleness that was markedly different from his past behavior. She respectfully requested the court to allow his release on bond, highlighting that to her knowledge, he has not been violent for many years and has been committed to being a father first [1].

Huynh's letter was included as an exhibit in Combs' defense's latest filing. This filing is a reply to the prosecution's opposition to releasing Combs on bail ahead of his sentencing, which is set for October 3. Combs' defense has asked the court to release him on a $50 million bond, arguing he is not a danger to the community and is not a flight risk [1].

However, not all former partners of Combs share Huynh's sentiment. Cassie Ventura, the star witness in the case and another former girlfriend of Combs, testified that Combs was unfaithful to her during their 11-year relationship by dating Gina [1]. Additionally, other witnesses in the case have written letters to the judge, pleading for Combs to remain incarcerated, expressing fear for their safety if he were released from jail ahead of his sentencing [1].

The judge denied Combs bail immediately after the verdict, citing Combs' admitted pattern of violence in his relationships [1]. Combs' defense has filed a motion asking for his complete acquittal or a new trial, arguing he was unfairly prosecuted based on the Mann Act, and calling his conviction "unconstitutional" [1].

Meanwhile, the defense's latest filing comes amidst the release of 2016 hotel surveillance footage of Combs beating Ventura during the trial. George Kaplan, a former assistant of Sean "Diddy" Combs, testified seeing Combs throw apples at Huynh at Combs' home in Miami [1].

As the case continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether the judge will grant Combs bail or not. CNN has reached out to Huynh and to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for comment, but has yet to receive a response [1].
