Seahawks Update: Key Players Return to Practice, Knight's Return Approaching

The Seattle Seahawks have been making strides in their preparations for the upcoming season, with several key players returning to practice and some important developments to report.

After a shaky start, 18th overall pick Zabel acquitted himself well in Thursday's game, as expected by the Seahawks. Many observers lauded his play in the aftermath, but Coach Mike Macdonald views it as simply what the team expected and part of his continued growth.

Cornerback Shaquill Griffin returned to practice for the first time since July 25, having been away for a week-and-a-half dealing with a personal issue. Coach Macdonald noted that Griffin looked good out there during team drills.

Middle linebacker Ernest Jones IV was absent from practice due to attending a funeral. In his absence, Patrick O'Connell and Drake Thomas filled in as inside linebackers with the starting defense.

Tyrice Knight, who has been sidelined due to a knee injury and an additional unspecified medical issue, is expected to return for the regular season opener on September 7 against the San Francisco 49ers. While Knight is "getting close" to returning from the knee injury, the separate undisclosed medical issue is a bigger concern. The team is currently using other linebackers to fill his spot in practice, but his status is being closely monitored by the coaching staff.

Center Oluwatimi, who was sidelined for Thursday's game due to a back issue, was back on the field on Saturday but limited to only doing early work during nonteam sessions. The center and right guard spots remain open, with Christian Haynes getting snaps at right guard and Oluwatimi working with the first team at center alongside other offensive linemen on Saturday.

Snapper Chris Stoll is still limited in his work due to a back issue, but veteran Zach Triner remains on the roster and handled the snaps on Thursday. Triner is filling in for Stoll while he is limited.

Former Seahawk and current budding photographer Marshawn Lynch attended practice on Saturday following Thursday's preseason tie against the Raiders. Coach Macdonald stated that Marshawn provides great advice and has a great perspective, and that the team loves him.

Coach Macdonald praised Zabel's performance, stating that he regrouped and did a great job, showing what the team hoped. He also noted that Griffin participated in a few plays during team drills.

Regarding rush end Uchenna Nwosu, who remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list while recovering from offseason knee surgery, Coach Macdonald has no update but added that he's going so hard with his rehab that they have to slow him down.

The team is still undecided about the offensive line, with Coach Macdonald wanting to get through one more preseason game before settling on the offensive line.

In Seattle, the Mariners, known more for baseball than football, might be looking forward to the Seattle Seahawks' first regular season game on September 7, given the key players returning to practice, such as cornerback Shaquill Griffin and the anticipated return of Tyrice Knight. The Seahawks, with their recent updates and key players like Knight approaching their return, will likely have a fresh roster for the clash with the San Francisco 49ers. Meanwhile, football enthusiasts in Seattle will also be keeping an eye on the developments in their favorite teams, including the Seahawks as they prepare for the upcoming season.
