Seagulls Eleven Aims for A$10 Million Golden Eagle Race in Sydney

Seagulls Eleven, the UK-trained galloper prepared by Hugo Palmer, is set to make a bold move Down Under, with a strong likelihood of competing in the A$10 million Golden Eagle race in Sydney.

The horse's connections are actively planning the horse's trip to Australia for this prestigious event, following its recent victory in the Goodwood Thoroughbred Stakes. The race win has earmarked Seagulls Eleven for the Golden Eagle campaign.

The £4.87m prize and the international prestige of the race are significant incentives for the owner and trainer to target this race in Sydney. However, an official confirmation is yet to be made.

Meanwhile, another horse in the spotlight is Rhoscolyn, trained by David O'Meara. Rhoscolyn won the £150,000 Coral Golden Mile at Goodwood, making it his sixth win at the track, earning him the title of a "real old Goodwood specialist."

Rhoscolyn stepped up considerably on his 12th placed effort in a handicap over seven furlongs at Goodwood, winning by a length. The win was the biggest race Rhoscolyn could win at Goodwood, and it came after Danny Tudhope replaced the original mount Mirsky due to that horse being lame.

In the same race, Seagulls Eleven, a son of Galileo Gold, the 2016 2,000 Guineas winner, finished first, marking a significant turnaround after its last-place finish in this year's running of the 2,000 Guineas. A gelding operation appears to have made Seagulls Eleven more tractable.

Elsewhere, Hughie Morrison's assistant Charlie Harris suggested potential Group 1 targets towards the end of the year in France for Kyle Of Lochalsh. Cosmic Year, another horse trained by Palmer, finished last of the four runners in the Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes, with Colin Keane, who rode Cosmic Year in the race, believing a drop back in trip to seven furlongs could be beneficial for the horse.

Keane found himself trapped on the rail behind Seagulls Eleven in the Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes. The Golden Eagle is restricted to northern hemisphere three-year-olds and four-year-olds born south of the equator, making it an exciting opportunity for Seagulls Eleven to test its mettle against international competition.

The Golden Eagle race is set to take place in Sydney, and if Seagulls Eleven does make the trip, it will be owned by a syndicate of footballers originally connected to Brighton and Hove Albion. It's an exciting development in the world of horse racing, and all eyes will be on Seagulls Eleven as it prepares for this significant challenge.

Seagulls Eleven may potentially contest in the horse-racing event, the Golden Eagle race, a prestigious A$10 million event in Sydney, given its recent victory in the Goodwood Thoroughbred Stakes. The horse-racing spotlight also shines on Rhoscolyn, a "real old Goodwood specialist," who won the Coral Golden Mile at Goodwood, its sixth win at the track.
