Sculptor Santi Millán unveils debut exhibition in Barcelona
Rewritten Article:
Hola, Barcelona!
On Jan 29, beloved Spanish actor and host Santi Millán launched his inaugural exhibition 'Santificado' at the Pigment Gallery in Barcelona. This showcase displays nearly twenty sculptures created by Millán during the pandemic when he discovered a passion for sculpture out of sheer boredom during the lockdown.
You might be intrigued by the news of Rodalies disruptions and the normal operations of Metro de Barcelona and FGC.
Millán, in an interview with EFE, shared that he doesn't disconnect unless he's using his hands, so he dabbled into sculpting. Venturing to Los Encantes market, he salvages discarded pieces that eventually become his chrome-plated gold or matte black sculptures.
These quirky sculptures often feature recognizable figures - a Michelin doll transformed into black rubber, a Christ turned into a bullfighter, and a Maria cookie- adorned halo Virgin. The presenter breathes new life into these flea market pieces, repurposing them for a modern household.

Among the crowd at the exhibition's opening were figures like comedian José Corbacho, pastry chef Christian Escribà, politician Jordi Romeva, stylist Marta Pontnou, and Pigment Gallery owner Ferran Josa, who was instrumental in bringing Millán’s lesser-known art form to light.
Josa discovered Millán's unique sculptures and spotted their potential in contemporary art. Supporting Millán's creative endeavor, Josa helped create a series of videos featuring Millán's characteristic humor on social media. These videos are now part of 'Santificados'.
Josa believes that Millán's work fits within the realm of irreverent art, a descendant of incredibly honest and subversive art movements from the 1960s, yet not excessively radical. Consequently, these sculptures could be showcased in the gallery, just like any other exhibition.
'Santificado' is on display at the Pigment Gallery in Barcelona until February 12. EFE.
(Note: While the article briefly mentions irreverent art, it is yet to be confirmed if Santi Millán's sculptures truly fit this category. Authentic details from Millán’s portfolio or art-focused publications would be necessary for definitive confirmation.)
Jordi Romeva, the politician, was amongst the celebrity attendees at Santi Millán's exhibition 'Santificado', held at the Pigment Gallery in Barcelona.
Interested in the local entertainment scene, Jordi might have also taken note of the disruptions in Rodalies and Metro de Barcelona services that day.
Being a patron of the arts, Jordi would likely appreciate the unique sculptures created by Millán during the pandemic, such as the recognizable figures adorned with modern household items, like the Maria cookie-adorned halo Virgin.
Suspending his political duties for a moment, Jordi might have found the irreverent art of Santi Millán as entertaining as his television shows.
