More 'Scrubs' Seasons Possible with Success - Scrubs revival brings back Braff, Faison, and Chalke for Disney+ comeback
The beloved medical comedy Scrubs is making a comeback after 14 years. Original stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke will return for a new season, set to premiere on March 25. The revival arrives exclusively on Disney+ in Germany, with weekly episodes rolling out to fans.
The show's creator, Bill Lawrence, has confirmed that this revival is a direct continuation of the first nine seasons. The original series, which aired from 2001 to 2010, wrapped up with 182 episodes. Despite being marketed as Scrubs Season 1, it technically serves as the tenth instalment—ignoring the previous, less popular 'Season 9' from 2010.
The revival is being treated as an experiment to test audience demand. Both the cast and creators have signalled their willingness to produce further seasons if the response is strong. Braff, Faison, and Chalke will reprise their iconic roles as J.D., Turk, and Elliot, bringing back the show's signature mix of humour and heart.
Disney+ will stream the new episodes weekly, starting on March 25. The platform's decision to release them gradually suggests a focus on building momentum and viewer engagement over time.
The revival's success will determine whether Scrubs continues beyond this initial run. Fans can expect the same characters and tone that made the original series a favourite. The premiere date is now set, with the first episode arriving on Disney+ in late March.
