Scottie Scheffler Wins The Open Championship 2025, Completes Career Grand Slam

Scottie Scheffler has added another major title to his impressive collection, winning The Open Championship 2025 at St Andrews. With this victory, the American golfer has completed his career Grand Slam, joining an elite group of golfers who have won all four major championships.

Scheffler's journey to victory was not without its challenges. He grabbed a four-shot lead on Saturday, but questions about the point of his success had been weighing on him before the tournament. In an interview, he expressed feelings of emptiness and the frustration of always moving on to the next tournament. However, he managed to channel those emotions into his game, delivering a strong performance throughout the tournament.

On Sunday, Scheffler extended his lead with three birdies across the first five holes. He finished the tournament with a three-under score on the day, securing his victory with a final score of 15 under par.

Chris Gotterup finished third in The Open Championship 2025, earning $1.1 million, while Harris English finished second, earning $1.8 million. Li Haotong entered Sunday in second place but finished fourth, going one under par on the day.

With this win, Scheffler's total tournament earnings in 2025 are now $16.1 million, bringing his career tournament earnings to more than $90 million. If his strong season continues, he could pass Phil Mickelson's career tournament earnings of $96.7 million by year's end and potentially pass Tiger Woods' all-time lead of roughly $121 million.

Scheffler's impressive season includes wins at The Masters in 2022 and 2024, The Players Championship in 2023 and 2024, the Arnold Palmer Invitational in spring 2024, the Olympic Gold Medal in August 2024, the 2025 PGA Championship, and The Open Championship in July 2025. This is his fourth career major win.

The total purse for The Open Championship 2025 was $17 million, the same as in 2024. The tournament took place at St Andrews, one of the most iconic courses in golf, adding to the prestige of Scheffler's victory.

Scheffler's success both on and off the course has been remarkable. In 2024 alone, he earned more than $100 million, making him one of the highest-earning golfers in the world. As he continues to dominate the sport, golf fans can expect to see more of Scottie Scheffler's name at the top of leaderboards in the years to come.
