Scottie Scheffler Achieves Precedent, Matching Tiger Woods' 17-Year Ranking Peak in Golf

In the world of golf, a new star is shining brightly. Scottie Scheffler, the American golfer, has been making waves in the sport over the past two years, and his recent form has drawn comparisons with the legendary Tiger Woods.

Scheffler has played in 41 ranking events over the past two years, amassing an impressive 830.34086 points. His performances have been nothing short of exceptional, consistently outperforming his rivals. In fact, his average points per tournament over the rolling two-year period is now 20.25, up from 17.9550 a week ago.

This high level of performance has seen Scheffler claim several victories, including the Tour Championship and The Open. His latest victory at Royal Portrush earned him an additional 100 points, further boosting his position in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

Comparisons with Tiger Woods are inevitable given Scheffler's recent dominance. Last year, Woods achieved a comparable points average for four weeks in 2008, a feat that Scheffler is now emulating. However, Scottie Scheffler remains humble about the comparisons, stating, "I still think they're a bit silly... I think Tiger stands alone in the game of golf."

Despite this, it is clear that Scheffler is making a name for himself in the sport. He is currently three-quarters of the way to his career Grand Slam after his latest victory at The Open, where he also held top spot in the world rankings, a feat he shares with Tiger Woods.

Looking ahead, Scheffler will tee up in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, starting with the FedEx St. Jude Championship on August 7. His next opponent in the world rankings with the lowest average points per tournament over the last two years, comparable to Scheffler's, is Daniel Berger.

As the season progresses, golf fans will be eager to see if Scheffler can maintain his current form and continue to challenge the records set by Tiger Woods. One thing is for certain, Scottie Scheffler is a force to be reckoned with in the world of golf.
