Scorching Temperatures Sweep into Town: Will the 40-Degree Heatwave Break Records in Franks?
Sizzling friggin' days ahead in Franconia! Weather specialist Stefan Ochs is convinced of a sweltering heatwave, but will it get as toasty as 40 degrees?
First, brace yourself for some discomfort in Franconia. Prepare for a tempestuous morning: "Light rain showers and occasionally intense thunderstorms. By afternoon, a bit of clear sky with thermometers reaching 30 degrees, followed by passing heavy thunderstorms as the evening approaches," tells us Stefan Ochs from Herzogenaurach, the weather expert.
Across the region of Bavaria, meteorologists predict an almighty thunderstorm with heavy rain, hail, and powerful winds. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), these storms can become severe in the latter part of the day and bring hurricane-like winds exceeding 100 km/h, drenching rain of up to 40 liters per square meter, and hail with a diameter of three centimeters.
So, will it get hellish hot with 40 degrees on the horizon?
On Friday, it's a chilly 23 degrees Celsius, according to "Wetterochs." The day might begin with some showers and storms, but the sun tends to peek through.

From Saturday, it's time for a dramatic transformation. "There's no question left about the heatwave from Sunday to Wednesday," asserts Stefan Ochs. From Saturday, the mercury starts to rise without respite—from 30 degrees on Saturday, 32 degrees on Sunday, and soaring to 36 degrees on Monday. The ICON weather model even guesstimates temperatures soaring to 39 degrees on Wednesday. But the weather expert remains cautious: "This model has been known to produce elevated numbers, while others may slightly underestimate. A more plausible guess seems to be around 36 degrees," admits Stefan Ochs.
After the heatwave, he's not ready to predict the long-term forecast, but he does expect a substantial cooling.
