Scorching temperatures, radiant sunshine, and rain showers - the summer vacation of 2025 promises a variety of weather conditions.
Rhineland-Palatinate, the southwestern German state, is preparing for another heatwave, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). Weather expert Sven Plöger predicts temperatures will rise to the "normal" summer range, reaching up to 39°C in some areas, with the hottest day expected around midweek.
The weather situation in Rhineland-Palatinate is complex, as a high-pressure area over France is moving towards the state, while a low remains over Eastern Europe. This has created a dynamic weather pattern, leading to uncertainty about which of the two will prevail.
Despite the uncertainty, the DWD has issued heat warnings, advising people to take precautions such as drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding exertion. The next few days, however, offer a reprieve, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 27 degrees, making it suitable for swimming, hiking, sports, and sightseeing in the city.
Friday will see temperatures of 24 to 27 degrees, with some clouds and potential rain in the north. Saturday and Sunday will be warmer, with a maximum of 29 degrees on Sunday. There may be a warm summer rain in the Westerwald on Saturday or Sunday.
The DWD spokesman notes that the large-scale weather situation for the rest of the summer in Rhineland-Palatinate is still uncertain. The weather in the next few weeks is unpredictable, with the possibility of another heatwave not currently expected.
The summer holidays in Rhineland-Palatinate started cool and rainy, but the weather is now turning towards summer again, becoming warmer and sunnier. The state experienced very high temperatures recently, with record highs such as 39.3°C measured near Koblenz on July 3, 2025, and 35.7°C recorded in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler earlier.
The DWD has predicted that temperatures will continue to be very high around midweek, with heatwaves potentially hitting Rhineland-Palatinate again, alongside other regions like Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Baden-Württemberg. It is advised to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during the upcoming heatwave.
The weather forecast in Rhineland-Palatinate suggests that temperatures will once again climb towards the summer norm, possibly reaching up to 39°C, similar to the record-breaking heat observed previously. Concurrently, the German Weather Service (DWD) continues to offer heat warnings due to the uncertain and dynamic weather pattern in the region.
