Scorching temperatures ahead: Summer reemerges, forecasting up to 33 degrees.
Improved Weather on the Horizon for Baden-Württemberg
After a rainy and cool July, the weather in Baden-Württemberg is set to improve significantly. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the weather will be sunny and dry from Wednesday, with the improvement due to high pressure "Ines" from Spain and Portugal.
The high-pressure system is expected to bring warm air towards Baden-Württemberg, making outdoor activities a pleasant prospect. The weather expert at the DWD's website, Karsten Schwanke, predicted this change in weather.
From Wednesday onwards, the region can expect plenty of sunshine and rising temperatures. Overnight into Thursday, it will remain clear or lightly cloudy, with fog possible in some places.
However, the weather situation remains unstable. Southern Germany, including Baden-Württemberg, faces ongoing heavy rainfall risks, with the potential for localized flooding, especially between the Black Forest and the Bavarian Forest. Intermittent precipitation and thunderstorms are predicted to continue south of a line from Saarland to Dresden until at least Tuesday following July 26.
Northern areas will experience more sunshine and clearer spells, though occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms remain possible. By the weekend, the weather is expected to be summery, with a possibility of brief thunderstorms or showers.
Temperatures are expected to climb to up to 30°C during the day on Thursday and Friday. On these days, temperatures on the Fildern will reach 23°C, while the Allgäu and Kurpfalz will see temperatures of up to 20°C and 26°C respectively. In the lower regions, temperatures are expected to reach very warm to hot values, with around 28°C expected on the Alb highlands and up to 33°C.
It's important to note that July's rainy and cool weather was caused by a persistent weather disturbance, known as an Omega weather pattern. This weather pattern featured a trapped high-low pressure combination with a low-pressure system hanging over Germany for weeks.
Despite the improvement, it's advisable to not forget your sunscreen, as the weather is expected to be pleasant and dry. As temperatures drop to values between 12 and 6°C overnight, a jacket may be needed early in the morning.
In summary, the weather in Baden-Württemberg is expected to improve significantly, with several days of summery weather predicted by the DWD. However, southern Germany will still see rain and thunderstorms, and it's important to stay aware of local weather conditions.
