Scorching summer weekend arrives, forecasting temperatures up to 30 degrees.

The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a warning for a heatwave that is expected to peak in the coming week, bringing temperatures as high as 38-39°C across the country.

During the heatwave's peak, which is expected towards the middle of next week, residents and travelers in Germany should be prepared for the increased risk of thunderstorms, particularly in southern regions like Bavaria. The DWD has warned of thunderstorms accompanying the extreme heat on Wednesday and Thursday, with possible heavy rain and hail in some areas.

On Saturday, the south of the country will see highs of 26 to 34 degrees Celsius, with mainly sunny skies. However, on Sunday, a cold front will move in, replacing the hot air with cooler marine air in many parts of the country. The south will see peak temperatures just over 30 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while the north will only reach maximum temperatures of 23 to 26 degrees Celsius with a few harmless cloud fields.

Temperatures in the southwest will exceed 30 degrees Celsius on Monday, reaching up to 34 degrees Celsius in the shade in the south. On Tuesday and Wednesday, widespread highs of between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius are expected.

However, the heat wave may bring more rain and lower temperatures in the second half of the week. Sunday will bring a noticeable drop in temperature across most of the country. The cold air will largely disappear on Monday, and only in the far north will temperatures likely remain largely below the 30-degree mark.

The night into Monday will be significantly cooler, with temperatures dropping to around 10 degrees Celsius in some areas. After the heatwave, cooler temperatures in the mid-20s and sunshine are expected from Saturday onward, but the risk of thunderstorms is present during the heatwave period in the second half of the week.

Thus, residents and travelers in Germany, especially in southern regions like Bavaria, should be prepared for the possibility of thunderstorms in the second half of this week, as forecasted by the DWD. It is advised to stay informed of the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this heatwave.

Weather forecasting by the DWD suggests an increased risk of thunderstorms in southern Germany, such as Bavaria, during the later part of the heatwave that is expected to peak towards the middle of next week. During this period, it is essential for residents and travelers to stay informed of the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this heatwave.
