Sizzling Hot Weekend Ahead - Approaching Heat Wave Reaches 30 Degrees - Scorching Summer Weekend Approaches: Anticipate Heat Wave Reaching Highs of 30 Degrees

The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a warning for an upcoming heatwave, with temperatures set to soar to near 40 degrees Celsius by midweek. According to meteorologist Tobias Reinartz from the weather service, the heat will build steadily, starting with temperatures around 30-36°C in the south on Tuesday, spreading northeast by Wednesday with highs between 31 and 38 degrees.

On Saturday, the weather was mainly sunny in the south, with some clouds in the rest of the country. Temperatures ranged from 21 to 25 degrees near the coast, and 26 to 34 degrees inland, with the highest values in the southwest. Sunday, however, brings a significant drop in temperature across most of the country. In the south, the peak temperature will be just over 30 degrees, while in the north it won't even reach 25 degrees.

Meteorologist Tobias Reinartz predicts a cold front moving in on Sunday, replacing the hot air with cooler marine air, especially in the north. The night into Monday will be noticeably cooler, with temperatures dropping to around 10 degrees in some areas.

The heatwave, notable for its intensity and duration, is expected to impact most of the country except for cooler coastal areas initially. Overnight temperatures could stay above 15 degrees Celsius, contributing to heat stress. Isolated showers might occur in southern highlands early in the week, but most regions will remain sunny. The forecast suggests increasing humidity and potential for muggy conditions.

The DWD warns of strong heat stress particularly in the southwest, and the hot spell is expected to continue through Friday, when widespread thunderstorms are likely to arrive, providing some relief. Meteorologist Tobias Reinartz specifically highlights the heat’s intensification toward midweek and the eventual arrival of thunderstorms that may temporarily break the hot spell, aligning with the official DWD outlook.
