Scorching Summer Weekend Ahead with Temperatures Soaring to 30 Degrees

The upcoming week in Germany promises a taste of high summer, with the southern regions expected to reach temperatures just over 30 degrees on Sunday. The rest of the country will enjoy mainly sunny weather, although some clouds may make an appearance, according to meteorological predictions.

As we move into the second half of next week (August 20–24, 2025), a heatwave is expected to peak, as announced by the German Weather Service (DWD). Temperatures are forecasted to range from 26 to 34 degrees, with the highest values in the southwest. The peak of the heatwave is expected towards the middle of next week, and during this time, the risk of localized heavy thunderstorms will increase from the west.

However, it's important to note that for a more accurate detailed forecast, including temperature profiles and thunderstorm risk, you should consult a trusted meteorological service such as the DWD or international providers like the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) closer to the date. Forecast accuracy improves within about 7 days.

In the north, temperatures will not exceed 25 degrees on Sunday, and it will be cooler along the coast, with temperatures ranging from 21 to 25 degrees. A significant cooling trend is expected on Sunday, as a cold front passes over the country, replacing the hot air with cooler maritime air in many parts.

Towards the end of the week, current forecasts suggest more rain and lower temperatures. In the meantime, Germany is gearing up for the heat, with events like the DJ Festival in Kurpark attracting thousands of people. Elsewhere, a demonstration is taking place in front of Hamm Zoo.

It's also worth mentioning that the head physician has lost a lawsuit against the abortion ban in Hamm, although this news is not related to the weather and has already been mentioned in previous bullet points.

As always, stay tuned for more updates on the weather and other news from Germany.

To ensure we're fully prepared for the upcoming change in weather, we should keep an eye on the weather-forecasting provided by reliable services like the DWD and ECMWF. These services predict a heatwave from August 20–24, 2025, with temperature ranges from 26 to 34 degrees, especially in the southwest, while other regions may experience localized heavy thunderstorms.
