Scorching sand dominates Varadero today

Get ready to catch some beach volleyball action as Jorge Luis Alayo and Noslen Díaz aim to bounce back from a recent World Tour setback in Brasília! The NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit 2022 is kicking off in sunny Varadero, Cuba, starting today.

This dynamic duo, currently ranked 10th in the world with 5,028 points, dropped to 9th after their second tournament in Brazil. They trail only behind the Argentine brothers Capogrosso (ranked 4th with 6,660 points) and the Brazilian pair Evandro and Arthur Lanci (ranked 5th with 6,380 points). The rankings are headed by the Norwegian duo Mol-Sorum with an impressive 8,600 points.

The NORCECA tournament in Cuba is renowned for its top-notch organization and consideration for the athletes. Points earned here contribute to both the continental and world rankings, and it marks the beginning of the qualification journey for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo.

A diverse field of 18 men’s and 15 women’s teams from 14 countries will compete in a total of 13 events. Cuba, known for its persistent efforts and beach volleyball growth, has been chosen as the host for the final tour stop of this NORCECA circuit, taking place from October 16 to 20.

Save the dates for two upcoming Under-23 events in Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic (May 22-26) and Isla Caimán (June 19-23). These events serve as valuable preparation for the Junior Pan American Games, scheduled for August 18-22 in Asunción, Paraguay.

While I couldn't find specific details about the 2022 schedule and standings, you can check out the NORCECA Circuit's overall growth and development through its 13 stops, focusing on enhancing beach volleyball across the region. Stay tuned for more updates on your favorite teams' journey to beach volleyball supremacy!

Despite their recent drop to 9th place (5,028 points), they face stiff competition from teams like the Argentine Capogrosso brothers (6,660 points) and the Brazilian team Evandro and Arthur Lanci (6,380 points).
