Heed Up, Kazakhstan! Severe Heat and Storm Warnings Affect Multiple Regions

Get ready, Kazakhstan! As of June 15–16, 2025, a severe weather warning has been issued across the country. Brace yourselves for a tumultuous mix of weather conditions, including heatwaves, rainstorms, hail, high winds, and an increased risk of wildfires.

Here's what you can expect:

Astana:Variable cloudiness will grace the city, with temperatures soaring up to 26°C during the day and dropping to a cooler 17°C at night.

Almaty:Almaty is looking at overcast skies, with a high of 31°C and nighttime temperatures dipping to 18°C.

Shymkent:Clear skies welcome Shymkent with daytime temperatures reaching 38°C and nighttime temperatures dropping to a relatively cool 21°C.

But these peaceful forecasts don't tell the whole story. Meteorologists are warning of severe heatwaves, reaching 35–40°C in regions like Zhetysu, Abai, West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Mangistau, East Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Zhambyl, west of Ulytau, and south of Kostanay. Add to that, heavy rains, thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds across western, northeastern, and eastern Kazakhstan—you've got yourself a storm brewing.

To make matters worse, there's a high risk of wildfires in several regions due to the hot, dry conditions and strong winds. Fog might even make an appearance in the northwest and southwest during nighttime and morning.

This chaotic combination of extreme heat, heavy rainfall, strong winds, and heightened fire risk may cause havoc across much of Kazakhstan, so stay alert and ensure you're prepared for any weather eventualities.
