Sci- Fi, fantasy, and horror films scheduled for Netflix this summer season
Ready to dive into the world of Netflix this summer? Here's a peek at their sci-fi, fantasy, and horror offerings that are sure to grab your attention.
May 23 - Fear Street: Prom Queen
Thought the Fear Street trilogy was wrapped up? You better save a seat for this new installment set in 1988 Shadyside High. Matt Palmer directs, and the cast includes familiar faces like Lili Taylor, Katherine Waterston, and newcomers like India Fowler, Suzanna Son, and Chris Klein. More mean girls, misfits, and mysteries await!
June 20 - KPop Demon Hunters
This animated action comedy tells the tale of three K-pop stars doubling as demon hunters - quite the performance schedule they've got there! Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, you'll find a stacked cast featuring Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, Yunjin Kim, and more. Intriguingly, they'll have to protect their adoring fans from a demonic boy band!
July 2 - The Old Guard 2
This long-awaited sequel was almost forgotten, but the 2020 original was a blast, so let's forgive the lengthy delay between installments. Victoria Mahoney directs a star-studded cast (Charlize Theron, Henry Golding, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Uma Thurman, and more) in a story where the immortal warriors (except newly-mortal Andy) are still on a mission to protect the world, with some new complications and old foes rearing their heads.
July 10 - Brick
Not the 2005 neo-noir movie, Brick here follows an ordinary couple trapped behind a mysterious wall in their apartment building, left to wonder who built it, why, and if there's any escape! Sounds like a mind-bending mystery.
August 13 - Fixed
Created by Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Primal), Fixed is an adult animated comedy about a dog having one last crazy night with his buddies before he gets neutered. Adam Devine, Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn, and other comedy greats lend their voices to this silly yet enticing adventure.
Summer TBD - Lost in Starlight
That’s right, Netflix's first-ever Korean-language animated film is a sci-fi romance set on Earth and Mars. It's about the love story between an astronaut and a musician, aiming to keep their relationship alive despite the distance. Directed by Han Ji-won, it promises to be an innovative and heartwarming addition to the summer lineup.
Stay tuned for more summer releases at Tudum.
